MTSS implementation is not a program. It's a system and it's a new way of doing business. If you're building doesn't feel noticeably different than either you already have it dialed in or you're not doing it right. It's a tough message but I've come to learn that most teams aren’t struggling because they don’t care or aren’t working hard. They’re struggling because the system itself isn’t designed to support clear, consistent decision-making.

I partner with schools and districts to design and strengthen MTSS practices that are usable in real-world settings (imagine that!). This partnership typically includes a focus on clarifying team structures, defining decision rules, aligning assessment practices, and ensuring that Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 supports work together.

Whether you’re building MTSS from the ground up or trying to refine what already exists, the charge and mission is the same: create a network of high quality instruction, intervention, data use and teaming that is systemic to the point that the underlying operating system of the school community is fundamentally changed and is functioning for the better as evidence by better student outcomes and happier staff, faculty, and families.
